Friday: August 16th
12:00PM – 1:00PM @ Wilson Plaza
Every Friday through the end of September you can catch a free outdoor concert at Wilson Plaza. This week, get out and catch Vybe a fun and well-seasoned GO-GO band!
5:00PM – 8:00PM @ Diamond Teague Park
This is the last weekend this summer you can head over to Anacostia river for a night of free fishing. Anacostia Riverkeeper will hook you up with all the gear and bait and also have experts around to help you hook a big one!
6:00PM – 11:00PM @ 20280 Exchange St. Ashburn, VA
What better way to enjoy the end of the summer than at a Carnival? This is the last weekend of the One Loudoun Carnival so head over to Ashburn and ride some rides, eat some funnel cake, and win some prizes!
Saturday: August 17th
9:30AM – 10:30AM @ National Theatre
Spark your family’s imagination and join the National Theatre for interactive performances, puppets, dance, and music every Saturday morning! Make sure to book your spot the Friday before and show up 10 minutes prior to showtime.
10:00AM – 1:00PM @ Glen Echo Park
Spend the morning getting creative with your family. Every Saturday, Glen Echo Park Partnership for Arts and Culture hosts an art event for families that changes week to week. Best of all, if you’re short on time, the craft will only take around a half hour!
11:00AM – 6:45PM @ Arlington County Fair
Arlington County Fair is one of the largest free events on the East Coast and an event you won’t want to miss. With over 84,000 visitors every year this is a fair everyone in your family will enjoy.
6:00PM – 8:00PM @ Village Plaza
With beers, wine, and cocktails for parents, and games, bubble shows and a play area for kids, this outdoor concert at Village Plaza is sure to check the box for everyone in your family!
Sunday: August 18th
8:00AM @ Dkye Marsh
Enjoy nature in the morning with a guided bird walk. Each Sunday, the Friends of Dkye Mash lead a walk through the park grounds encouraging participants to enjoy all that northern VA has to offer.
9:00AM – 6:00PM @ Smithsonian National Zoo
Walk on the wild side and take a self-guided safari around the Smithsonian National Zoo to meet dinosaurs! And the coolest part is that this is a free attraction!
12:00PM – 2:00PM @ Sandy Spring Museum
The WonderRoom challenges parents and children alike to experiment with hands-on activities. This week, WonderRoom will push families to think creatively about reducing waste and recycling!
