If you are trying to figure out what to do with your long weekend we have you covered! From a kids day at the opening Stanford football game to a variety of festivals to choose from, we have rounded up the best family-friendly activities to check out in San Francisco this weekend.
Friday: August 30th
9:00AM – 5:00PM @OMCA
Join a vibrant family gathering this Friday night at the Oakland Museum! Every Friday night, OMCA turns their garden into a big, fun block party with DJs, food trucks, art workshops, and live music.
6:00PM – 10:00PM @Wilson Park
For a fun, Hawaiian themed evening, break out your hula skirt and lei and head to Wilson Park in Cupertino. The evening will include face painting, balloon animals, a bouncy house, rock climbing and of course, the Disney film Lilo and Stitch!
Saturday: August 31st
10:00AM – 5:00PM @Millbrae Art & Wine Festival
The Last Blast of Summer is a Labor Day tradition that has taken place for the past 49 years! The festival aims to create a Mardi Gras-style celebration with live music, artists, craft-makers, food, wine, craft beer, a car show, games, ziplines, rides and so much more!
11:00AM – 1:00PM @San Francisco Zoo
The Zoo is already a great weekend activity but this weekend the San Francisco Zoo ups their game with their Asian wildlife festival, Komodo Festival! The festival aims to educate zoo-goers about issues that affect endangered species of Asia like orangutans and red pandas, and the things we can all do to help them!
11:00AM – 4:00PM @Crab Cove Visitor Center
Celebrate all things fish this weekend at the Crab Cove Fish Festival! The event will include fishing lessons, fish games, fish crafts, fish exhibits, an aquarium tour, a fish bicycle parade, and fish feeding!
1:00PM – 4:00PM @Precita Eyes Muralists Studio
Get creative this weekend and take a stab at a mural painting! The class works on lots of different spray paint techniques and when you are done, your masterpiece can be taken home!
1:00PM – 8:00PM @Stanford Stadium
Join Stanford in celebrating the first football game of the season against Northwestern! Youth tickets are free and pre-game activities will include a petting zoo with a mini pony, a rock climbing wall, a bouncy house, face painting, cornhole, a DJ and a football-themed inflatable!
Sunday: September 1st
10:00AM – 7:00PM @Sausalito Art Festival
The Sausalito Art Festival brings one of the most prestigious art festivals in the country to the California waterfront! Along with everything you’d expect of an art festival, they also have two special kids festivals going on including “Messy Arts Festival” and “Let’s Make It!”
10:30AM – 2:00PM @Asian Art Museum
On Sundays, the Asian Art Museum invites families in for a day of bonding over art. In addition to self-guided gallery activities, there are special Art Adventure Packs to use to sketch your way around the galleries. At 1:00PM there will be a family storytelling hour!
11:00AM – 4:00PM @Presidio’s Main Parade Ground
Presidio Picnic is the ultimate family event! With a rotating lineup of 30+ international mobile food vendors, a free yoga class, and “learn-to-ride” bike lessons for kids, this is sure to be an event your whole family will enjoy.
