Looking for fun things to do with kids this weekend in San Francisco? From Bubble Fest to Bike and Book Fest, we’ve rounded up the best family-friendly events you won’t want to miss.
Friday: August 16th
1:00PM – 3:30PM @ Fairmont San Francisco
If your kids are obsessed with the DreamWorks movie Trolls, this afternoon tea will be a real treat. The entire menu is based on Trolls characters. There are Troll related activities, and each diner will leave with Trolls collectible toy!
9:00AM – 5:00PM @ Lake Anza
Get outside and swim, hike, boat, or fish at Lake Anza this weekend. To celebrate the East Bay Regional Park District’s 85th Anniversary the park is allowing people in for free every Friday through December!
6:30PM – 8:00PM @ Gabrielson Park, Sausalito
For a relaxing night by the water, head out to Gabrielson Park in Sausalito to catch an evening concert. The jazz and blues band Lost Dog Found will be playing and lawn seating is completely free!
Saturday: August 17th
10:00AM – 5:00PM @ Chabot Space & Science Center
Learn all about the science behind bubbles at the Chabot Space and Science Center’s Bubble Fest. The day will consist of bubble shows, live music, DIY bubble want making, a bubble dance party and more!
10:00AM – 2:00PM @ Start The Art
Let the creativity flow and bring your children to Start the Art, a drop-in art studio dedicated to children ages 2-6 that opens up once a month throughout the summer. They will provide the art supplies, the space and best of all, clean up the mess!
11:00AM – 2:00PM @ Presidio of San Francisco
The San Francisco Public Library is teaming up with Presidio National Park to put on a free bike and book festival. With family bike tours. arts-and-crafts, a story-walk, and raffles, this is an event you won’t want to miss!
1:00PM – 8:30PM @ Community Park, 11 Old County Road
Spend the whole day outside with your family listening to music at Star City Music Fest. Kids under 10 will be admitted to the festival for free. They can play on the park’s large playground and create custom tie-dyed T-Shirts.
Sunday: August 18th
8:00AM – 11:00AM @ Golden Gate Park
Take a run with the whole family at the Let Your Imagination Run 5k and 1k. With 2 distances, there is an option for even the littlest members of your family! All proceeds go towards A Good Koss. Which aims to “inspire children to be curious through kind, creative, and joyful education programs.”
11:00AM – 4:00PM @ Presidio Main Parade Ground Lawn
Every Sunday through early October Presidio Park hosts a public picnic for San Francisco. The event has dance performances, 30 food trucks, bike safety classes, arts and crafts, lawn games, yoga and more!
4:00PM – 6:15PM @ Alamo Drafthouse San Francisco
Share a classic with your family and head over to Alamo Drafthouse’s 4:00 p.m. showing of The Goonies this Sunday! In addition to the movie, Alamo will have a pirate ship’s worth of props to play with, including flashlights and pirate’s eye patches.
