Your Weekend Roundup: August 23 – 25, 2019
As summer dwindles, make the most of what is left with these activities in Denver this weekend! From a morning on the farm, to a pierogi eating competition, to a huge craft market, there is something for everyone on our list!
Friday: August 23rd
10:30AM – 11:30AM @Agriculture Heritage Center
If your kids are between the ages of 3 to 6, bring them to the Agriculture Heritage Center to learn all about animals, plants, and life on the farm. The morning program includes storytime, hands-on activities, and a takehome craft. You can also stay after the event to explore the farm!
Varying Times @Downtown Aquarium
Take your aquarium experience to the next level and spend the day learning how to handle and train animals. The Downtown Aquarium not only has sea creatures but is also home to a variety of birds, reptiles, amphibians, and even tigers!
6:00PM – 7:30PM @Fitzmorris Pool
Wrap up the summer with a family-friendly open swim at Fitzmorris Pool! On Friday evening families are invited to swim, eat popcorn and popsicles, drink lemonade, play games and enjoy music!
Saturday: August 24th
9:00AM – 10:00AM @WOW! Children’s Museum
Pack your stuffed animal’s bags and drop them off at WOW! Children’s Museum for a stuffed animal sleepover! Then on Saturday morning, pick your fuzzy friends up and join them for a breakfast party at the museum to hear all about what they did.
9:00AM – 8:00PM @Loveland
Enjoy a day that revolves around a food everyone enjoys: Corn! With a corn shucking contest, roasted corn to eat, games, a corn hole competition, a kids zone, live music, arts and crafts and more, it is definitely a festival that won’t disappoint!
11:00AM – 3:00PM @Clear Creek Valley Park
Arvada Days is an entire event centered around family fun! Starting in the morning with a bike ride, the day continues with a kids fishing competition, a Dutch-oven cookoff, free icecream, and of course, a live band.
12:00AM – 9:00PM @Saint Joseph Polish Roman Catholic Parish
Join in a celebration of Polish food and culture at the annual Polish Food Fest! The day will consist of delicious Polish food, Polish folk singers, live Polish bands, a Polish dance party and of course, a pierogi eating contest. There will also be a children’s playground.
Sunday: August 25th
9:00AM – 5:00PM @Longmont Museum
Ruckus Rodeo is a super fun walk-through exhibit filled with colorful 3D figures depicting the rodeo at the Fort Worth Stock Show. Using wire, canvas, burlap, acrylic paint, and fiberglass, the internationally-renowned pop artist Red Groomsto constructed this larger-than-life piece for your whole family to ‘oooo’ and ‘ahhh’ over!
10:30AM – 9:00PM @Elitch Gardens Theme and Water Park
For an easy activity that is sure to win over everyone in your family, spend one of the last weekends of summer at Elitch Gardens enjoying some rides. If you’re thinking it is too hot to be outside all day, you could opt to enjoy the water park instead!
11:00AM – 5:00PM @South Gaylord Street
If your family is even slightly into DIY and art, Firefly Handmade is a must this weekend.
