For a mind-stimulating activity outside, head over to Klyde Warren Park. At any point in the day, let your kids play around with the larger-than-life Imagination Playground blocks and make friends.

Nature Story Time

10:30AM — 11:30AM @ Heart Natural Science Museum
Every Friday, join Heard Natural Science Museum and Wildlife Sanctuary for a morning storytime. Each week, a new nature-themed book will be read and the event is enhanced by a puppet, live animal or other enrichment toys.

Lions Balloon Festival

5:00PM — 10:00PM @ Unity Park
Starting on Friday night and spanning through the weekend, the 32nd Annual Highland Village Lions Balloon Festival will be taking over Unity Park. The event will have a kids zone, live music, car show, vendor booths and of course, many hot air balloons.

The Art of the Brick

The Art of the Brick

9:00AM — 5:00PM @ Perot Museum of Nature and Science
August is the last month you have the chance to head over to Perot Museum of Nature and Science and see the world’s largest and most elaborate LEGO® display. The exhibit recreates some of the most famous art masterpieces. See Van Gogh’s Starry Night and Vermeer’s Girl with a Pearl Earring all with plastic blocks.

Repticon

10:00AM — 5:00PM @ Grapevine Convention Center
If your kids are obsessed with frogs, toads, salamanders, and snakes, Repticon is an event you won’t want to miss. Regional and national vendors will be offering and exhibiting reptiles, amphibians, and all kinds of exotic animals. The event will also include raffles and interactive live-animal shows.

Rainbow Vomit

11:00AM — 9:00PM @ Rainbow Vomit
With 6000 LEDs, 100 pounds of cotton, 25 pounds of glitter, 5 miles of ribbon and 1 secret unicorn, Rainbow Vomit is an awesome experience for all ages. August is the last month the exhibit is open so this weekend is a great time to get there!

Summer Movie Series

6:00PM — 9:00PM @ Klyde Warren Park
All summer long, Klyde Warren Park has been hosting a family-friendly, outdoor movie night on Saturdays. This week you can catch an all-time favorite: The Sandlot.

Spend a lazy Sunday on the water! You will be able to rent paddle-boards and tubes for cheap and buy food and beverages from food vendors.

Kids Open Mic

3:30PM — 6:00PM @ Opening Bell Coffee
Let your kids be the star of the show this weekend! Bring them to Opening Bell Coffee to perform alongside other kids! Sign-up starts at 3:30, so be sure to get there early and get on this list!

Elder Swim School End of Summer Bash

12:00PM — 6:00PM @ Multiple Locations
All of the Elmer Swim School locations are hosting a free open swim this weekend! In addition to 2 hours of swimming, the event will include snacks, door prizes, and vendors.
