Calling all Dallas parents! We know it can be hard as a parent to plan ahead. Don’t worry we have you covered. From fall festivals to Oktoberfest, movie screenings and more, we’ve rounded up a list of Dallas/Fort Worth’s must-visit activities and events for your family to explore this September.
11:00AM @Klyde Warren Park
Head to Klyde Warren Park for family fun with the Perot Museum. This month, examine pulleys, levers and simple machines.
2:30PM @Moody Performance Hall
Introduce your kids to the ballet with this family-friendly performance of Peter and the Wolf presented by the Avant Chamber Ballet. Enjoy classical music and a beautiful performance by professional ballerinas and stay afterward for a meet-and-greet with performers and even snap a photo!
1:00PM @Irving Arts Center
Enjoy some screen-free family time creating and bonding with parents and siblings. September’s activity is painting. Attendees can create cool, colorful compositions at this free drop-in event.

10:00AM @Legoland Discovery Center
Homeschool families can get exclusive access to Legoland activities from 10 am to 3 pm Monday through Friday during homeschool week for $10 per person. Engage with activities that incorporate Legos in the fields of science, math and engineering. Get tickets your tickets today!

Set off on a musical adventure with a bunch of pirates! Based on the popular children’s book.

Bring the kids to check out incredible chalk art by professional artists! Snap a photo at the interactive photo booth and enjoy some family fun at the children’s area.
10:00AM @Camp Thurman
Head to Arlington for a fun day at Camp Thurman with the family. Bring a picnic lunch and spend the day partaking in camp-favorite activities such as the zip-line and ropes course.
September 19th – 22nd
Break out your Lederhosen and check out Addison’s Oktoberfest for a true taste of Germany! Plenty of rides, games and events will entertain the kids, and the beer tents will keep mom and dad entertained, too. General admission wristbands requited to enjoy the festival.
5:45PM @Fort Worth Museum of Science and History
Grab your house robes (Griffyndor, anyone?) and head over the Fort Worth Museum of Science and History for a night of wizarding magic. Arrive at 5:45PM for Harry Potter-themed activities and then enjoy The Chamber of Secrets on the IMAX at 7:30PM. Get more details on Tickets above.
September 20th – 22nd
Time Varies @Oak Point Park, Plano
Live music, fireworks, hot air balloons and more await visitors at the 40th annual Plano Balloon Festival. The Kids Zone will feature obstacle courses, slides, face painting and more. There is even a toddler zone for your younger rascals. Tickets are required for certain activities.
2:00PM @Wylie G. Thomas Coliseum
Celebrate the release of the newest Dog Man book, Dog Man: For Whom the Ball Rolls. Dav Pilkey will give a presentation and live drawing. Stick around for photo ops with special characters from the series and more!
10:00AM @Frontiers of Flight Museum
Learn about opportunities for girls in the aviation field during this special day presented by the North Texas Chapter of Women in Aviation. Meet women who currently work in the field and engage in activities to encourage your daughter to pursue a career in aviation.
6:30PM @River Legacy
Learn about bats on this nature hike in Arlingon. Afterward, create a bat and meet live bats from the Bat World Sanctuary!

10:00AM @Dallas Zoo
Head to the Dallas Zoo to check out 24 life-size dinosaurs at Zoo North! Check out a dinosaur show, dig for fossils, build puzzles and dinosaur bones and much more! This attraction is included with zoo admission.
10:00AM – 6:00PM @Dallas Arboretum
Autumn at the Arboretum highlights the nationally acclaimed Pumpkin Village featuring pumpkin houses and creative displays utilizing more than 90,000 pumpkins, gourds and squash. The festival opens on September 21 and runs through October 31.
9:00AM @Crayola Experience
This event is designed for families with children who have special needs. Lights will be dimmed, music will be off and there will be a special visit from a Crayola character. General admission begins at 11 am. Event included with general admission tickets.

Time Varies @Dallas Childrens’ Theater
Join Belle, Mrs. Potts, Gaston and more as you embark on a musical journey with these beloved Disney characters. This tale as old as time is put on by the Dallas Children’s Theater. Tickets required; showtimes vary.
September 26th – 28th
5:00PM – 11:00PM @Panther Island Pavilion
Enjoy this 3 day festival with authentic German food, music, dancing, games, and biergartens with craft beers from around the country. You will forget you are in Texas.

The State Fair of Texas is an annual must-visit event for families in DFW and beyond! Visit the Midway for rides and games, visit the childrens’ area for fun activities and, of course, check out all the delicious food you can’t find anywhere else! Tickets required.
