When I was a kid, bowling during the summer seemed like a punishment. I remember there was unlimited bumper bowling on Wednesdays for $1 (shoe rental extra) at the local lanes, and I never wanted to go – who wants to be inside on a gorgeous sunny day?
If Pinstripes would have been around back in the ’90s, I might have been singing a different tune. This place is so cool (for an adult night out, too, just sayin’) – it’s not dark, there are only 8 lanes and there is a comfy leather couch at each lane.
The bumpers are an option, so if you have older kids bowling with younger kids, you can select who has bumpers and who doesn’t. Shoe rental is included, and they even let me snag a pair in case I needed to help my two year old (which I did, so thank you Pinstripes!)
There is a restaurant attached to the bowling alley, so you can also order drinks and as we were leaving (around 11 am) they were coming around with kids’ menus for lunch. What a perfect mommy and me outing!
And because the lanes are kids only during this time, my not-quite-mobile-yet (thank goodness!) twins came along for the ride and enjoyed some tummy time while watching their big sisters bowl. Definitely not something they could have done at the local lanes, where a weekly league would likely be going on at the same time.
Available Monday – Friday from 10 am until 12 noon, one hour drop-in. The full schedule for Pinstripes can be found here: http://www.
