Kids art is the one thing all three of my children love. Often I have a hard time finding classes to accommodate each of their varying skill levels and can’t take all of them to the same class. Thanks to Pearachute, I have hit the art studio jackpot!
Creativita, an adorable art studio in Forest Park (right next to Oak Park and off I-290), offers a Saturday morning kids art class called Painting Party. The owner, Jessica, leads the class of all ages, through a canvas painting instruction. She has an example on display to inspire the littlest artists. The week we went was an orange scaly fish in a brilliant blue sea.
Each child is given a 12×16 canvas, an array of paintbrushes, tools, and sponges, and their own tray of paint. Jessica starts the project and guides the kids with simple tips or help, by rotating their canvas or showing them how to use new tools to create texture. She was very easy going and helpful, even with my two-year old who didn’t take nearly as long to complete his work as his older six-year old sister.
As the project progressed, Jessica allowed the kids to explore their own creativity and add elements like glitter and tissue paper. Then she blow dries their masterpieces for you to take and bring home. Now I have three beautiful versions of that orange fish to hang in our play room. Taking my kids to this art class was such an awesome way to start the weekend. We got to do something as a family together and we had something to show for it! We’ll definitely be back and I encourage anybody looking for a good kids art class to give it a try! Check out the full location schedule here!
